Adsports Intro/Portfolio
Adventure Sports, more commonly known as Adsports, is a committee made up of fun loving and adventure seekers. In the committee, we have our special project officers (SPOs), secretary, treasurer and our 3-in-1 officers. What makes our committee so special is that our 3-in-1 officers rotate their jobscopes and they get to experience the roles of programmers, logistic officers and liaison officers for every different Adsports events.
Adsports’ roles lies in being the NTU ODAC “glue” as we aim to promote the family bonding within NTU ODAC through our activities. The nature of our activities is adventure related and everyone is welcome to join us as our activities are catered mainly for amateurs. The activities which we organised this year include ODAC Family Day, Choo Choo Trek, U-BikINg, Star Trek, Come Pong-ODAC, Kayaking Expedition and Kayaking Courses.
Adventure Sports is currently in its second work year and we hope that the ODAC spirit in us, the adventure enthusiast and our family love will continue to burn in the many years to come. Lastly, let’s HUAT ah!
ODAC Family Day
ODAC Family Day is our Adsports’ first event and it is held at the sunny island-Sentosa. It’s a fun filled day where all the different committees of NTU ODAC get together to interact and have fun by the sand and waters.
Choo Choo Trek
Adsports presents to you Choo Choo Trek where u experience walking on an abandoned railway track spanning from Bukit Timah Railway Station to Jurong Port Road. In this 6-mile trek, participants get to bash through dense vegetation in the jungle terrain, duck through tunnels and cross bridges. It’s definitely an eye-opening and memorable experience for all the participants!
U-BIkINg
On 3rd January 2008, 50 participants experienced the thrills and spills of cycling off road at in Pulau Ubin. Participants was introduced to the 45-ha Ketam Mountain Biking Trail which features 10km of mountain bike trails catering to both leisure cycling as well as international competitions.
Star Trek
On the eve of Valentine’s day, around 30 participants stepped into the trails of MacRitchie Reserviour Park and embarked on their maiden 15kmjourney of night trek into the lush greeneries and rain forest walk into Bukit Timah Nature Reserves. The participants were left breathless not because of exhaustion but rather than the sights and sounds and the twinkling of the stars accompanying their footsteps while new friendships are forged in the midst of the romantic getaway.
Come Pong-ODAC
The theme of reminiscing our childhood games back in the kampong days brought the various committees in NTU ODAC together after exams for some fun and relaxation in Pasir Ris Park on the 2nd May 2009. This creates the opportunities for inter-subcommittee interactions among our club and we enjoyed each other’s company thoroughly.
Kayaking Expedition
Post exam thrills begin with a 12km Kayaking Expedition from SAF Yacht Club to Pulau Seletar on the 30th May 2009 with a total of 30 participants. The spirits of the participants were kept high despite of the rain and together they completed the expedition in 5 hours and everyone sweat it out on their kayaks with a smile.
Kayaking Courses
Adsports also organises 1 Star and 2 Star Kayaking Courses whereby u get to experience how is kayaking like in the sea. Be prepared to immerse yourself in a whole lot of fun in this 2 or 3day courses!
